Born in the UK but with family originating in Sri Lanka, Himmi grew up in Croydon in the UK.

After studying Medicine at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, Himmi has worked as a doctor in the NHS for a number of years. She also studied global health and languages during her time as Herchel Smith Scholar at Harvard University in 2008 - 2009.

She has written for a number of online publications including www.medicine.co.uk, where her weekly satirical digest of the British Medical Journal were the three most read articles for 2017, as well as writing Brighton Fringe Festival reviews for theatre website, Broadway Baby.

During her time in the UK she was a committee member for Brighton writing group, Brighton Nightwriters and a finalist for the 2017 Travelex.co.uk "Next Great Travel Writer" competition.

Alongside her current pursuits she is working on her first novel.
